i've never seen a crowd scatter as fast, rain came straight through my gazebo, then when the sun came out it was glorious but everybody had left. We then had to push some of the vans out of the park.

wern't they just announcing that one of the dogs was a replacement and had come out of retirement for one that was ill, when they had to scatter with everybody else?

There was also a dance group that couldn`t perform due to the weather. Shame as they were looking forward to it.

Set off and turned around again when it started raining. Seems that gala day is a magnet for poor weather the last couple of years. It was a shame for the kids. Daughter came back wet through.

There were 2 un-heard heroes of the day. The first is a man called Ken Still. Age 70 and can hardly walk but never stopped for weeks before. He has worked for years to get back a float. That brings me to the second hero. Farleigh farm opposite Kings Croft donated the trailer, helped trim it and by pure good look stayed all day and pulled vehicles off in to the night. Without the tractor a lot of people would have been stuck perhaps for days. my hat off to you all in that weather. rain or not it was a lot better gala.

I praise everyone who turned out on Saturday, the crowds who lined the streets and made their way to the park. But the ones who took part in the parade from St Wilfs were absolute hero's cos they were hammered with torrential rain all the way to the park when the sun came out for a couple of hours. The bands and dancers did not let the weather stop them from entertaining, kids you were bloody brilliant well done everyone.
