they have started clearing the the site for the houses on the land opposite the junction hotel,at the top of the jubilee steps just inside the field there was a large tree it must have been more than a 100 years old (i am 80 and can always remember it there) i always throght it was illegale to cut trees down we always classed that tree as a landmark, buti suppose developers can do anything they want

Ifthe tree had a preservation order on it...they would have just deemed it as being in a dangerous condition...same as the water-voles firebasher mentioned...they will just re-locate them...they won't let anything get in the way of progress
