Not wishing to throw a spanner in the works, but proof reading is my job!  Tallent and servvice on the poster - should be talent and service.  Hope this hasn't gone to print yet.  Sounds like a great event Smiley

FEATHERSTONE AND DISTRICT COMMUNITTY EVENTS ASSOTIATION

PLAYDAY 2010

Dear Community Group/ anyone who wishes to help out

It is almost that time of year again for lots of summer fun. Featherstone Playday 2010 hopefully this year will be as much fun if not better than last year. Playday is an event created to simply encourage the opportunity for children to play

The date of this year’s event has been set nationally for 4th August. Featherstone’s event will run from 10am to 3pm. Planning the event has now begun.

The event will have many attractions and events that will all be free. All these are available to you, your group and surrounding residents to use or be involved with.
The date of the next Featherstone & District Community Events Association meeting to discuss Playday will be held on Tuesday 8th June, 8pm at the B&S Club on Wilson Street Featherstone. You are very welcome to attend. No offence will be taken if you cannot make the meeting. There will be further meetings. What involvement and help you choose to offer is down to you. What can be offered are many suggestions new and old. Also a month before the event full details will be made available.

Hope to see you on the day or before

Thanks John your booked Grin. Every bit helps.
The event set up will start from 5am until the start at 10am. Setting up takes lots of help. If you can make just an hour it will help. The event stops at 3pm. Any help after until about 7pm would also help. Just turn up if you can. If you could let someone know you can make it all the better.

Do you know a local young tallented DJ? Looking for someone or some people to run the many local young acts on a stage with £5k of state of the art equipment to use and ready to go.

Do you know any kite flyers? Please pass their details on or tell them of the Featherstone Kite Regata.

The Featherstone and District Community Events Association are hosting the next meeting for Featherstone Playday 2010 on Tuesday 22nd June at 7.30pm at the B+ S Club on Wilson Street Featherstone.
All community groups are welcome and so are any individuals that can offer help working on the day before, during or after. Just an hour at some time would help to offer more for our local youth.

A huge thanks and gratitude has to be given to all the volunteers and the public on the day who battled the weather with British grit determination to carry on and “Play”.
The Weather was a huge problem that almost halted the fun. Apologies can only be offered for the late start of some fun.
The early 4am start didn’t scare off San, Paul, Pete, Adrian, Ken, Ruth, the football ref, and other people who just appeared to help out. Hat off and thanks.
The day provided lots of fun mainly offered from volunteers. More huge thanks has to be given to Mary, Kate, Alistar, Megan, Nadine, Sue, Jo, Kay, Andy, Karen and the many groups volunteers that turned out.
There was no plan to run the event after 3pm but many volunteers and employed attractions kept going due to the numbers of people still on site. Some until 4pm. After the wet packing up ending after 7pm the football ref was still coaching and playing “any a side”. Nice one.
A further nice one and thanks has to be given to Ruth, Kate, San, Ken, Adrian, Karen and husband.
Because of you all Featherstone enjoyed another great day of community unity.

A fantastic day despite the weather  Grin.  I was glad to be of help, as always it's good to be able to give the children a fun day and all for free. It was good of the paid attractions to give their extra time to those who stayed on a bit later. Those who did brave the weather had a great day, had the weather been better there would have been twice as many there. We ought to make our slogan " Community Unity" . Town Council take note what can be done when people work together Cheesy.
