How do you annoy every business in Featherstone in one day?
Simple, send in a WMDC patroller with a hit list. ::)
You may recall a few years back WMDC began a campaign aimed at all business in the district by removing advertising boards from the out side of premises. You may also recall that WMDC stuck a problem when they arrived in Featherstone. Many Featherstone Business premises own land in front of their buildings. The last attack was thwarted by simply calling the police and reporting theft every time a sign was taken. WMDC returned the signs very shortly after. :P

This weeks attack is just the same but from reports so far the attitude is far more aggressive. A female patroller appears to be offering incorrect information with a tone and attitude commented on by many so far as rude and abrupt to be polite.

The battle should be raging by Monday with business preparing to defend their land and make many police reports. ;D
What a sad waste of time and public money not to mention picking on the hardest hit business’s in the district.  ::)

All stolen A-Boards returned (AGAIN) with no fee of £100 paid. Something had to un-true (AGAIN)? ::)

With no disrespect to the council who were stretched it was good to see shop keepers out early clearing some of the Station Lane paths. What people probably missed soon later was a snow plough at speed covering the paths and pedestrians with deep snow again…… not once but twice. Read what you wish in to that. ???

why do we need another supermarkt in fev have the other traders been consulted, and is anything planned to protest against the discussting bedroom tax the labour party seem to be very silent

I think we need a decent supermarket because as i've said before...you can't do a full shop at lidl...they have a very limited range of goods,i was told by an asda employee yesterday that its going to be an asda supermarket..YIPEE ;D ;D

With so much speculation over the years its hard to know what is going on. Just because a planning application has passed does not mean that it will be built.
For example the old KwikSave site. 6 years of talks with the local authority now leave the owners high and dry.
However one fact remains. The regeneration of Featherstone urgently needs to be the town centre. There has never been a better opportunity.  Featherstone has the land available to create a great town centre with car parking without holes that would enhance what it all ready has. We don’t need huge shops. Medium and small shops in a central area will always be the key to a good town centre. Everyone has comments so here is a blank plan. How would you like to see things built? Print a copy off and fit in what is needed. Unless people get of there arse it will never happen.

Not surprising the supermarket FRONT PAGE hype appears as another front page political stunt after simply picking up the phone and asking.
ASDA are interested in the site. No other such companies are so far. Unless the footfall potential dramatically increases in the area ASDA are looking at the average growth of Featherstone reaching a possible opening point in about 5 years. Then it would be considered to place a small unit with a pre-order pick up collection service point included.

Looks like another dead site that although un-used could do more damage than good. The precinct site has been dead for 6 years. You can apply and brag for what you wish. What will happen will only come about with sense and hard work which sadly Featherstone is lacking in at the moment. :(
