There was a request on this web site in 2008 for old issues of The Featherstone Chronicle. There's not much chance of that but it is on the internet and is now up to 1873. Type "The Featherstone Chronicle" into your search engine, the quotation marks are important, and see if it suits.

A unusual post there Old Stonian not sure what you mean by "not much chance of that". The Author of the Featherstone Chronicle also owns the copy right and has apparently left it to a relative to publish which has happened in the last month  Grin
Still a good read. This is the link,

The Featherstone Chronicle on line is now up to 1882. Recent issues have covered the planning and opening of Purston Church (intended to have a spire - see the original sketch), the night the winding rope broke at Snydale Colliery killing eight men, the installation of street gas lamps, and much more with illustrations by Tony Lumb. If you are interested in how your grandparents or great grandparents lived have a read.
