a set of plans are now available to view,

The current application is an addition to an original. there is nothing to say this plan will be built as soon as passed. it could be that it is just to keep to a time limit.

The jungle drums were beating today.
Contractors pulled on to the old Pop Factory site with various pieces of large plant equipment.
There appears to be much speculation as to the site now being sold to a super market.
After talking to the contractors they are on site only to solve a drainage problem by clearing the beck.

IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE NOT LIVED IN FEV LONG ENOUGH?

outline planning permission given last year for residential development minimum of 40 properties to be built for social and private sector. Wakfield road may be fitted with a pelican crossing near to the jubilee and the beck outside the site needs to be sorted for drainage as well as a new drainage system for the site.

No one appears to have picked up on your comment there Victor. A big hard standing site ready for caravans to move on to after a little plumbing.....

Could be wrong but it looks very much like Upton and South Elmsal have had enough of trying to house travelers. Looks like its Featherstone next on the list. Obviously un-opposed by its local Laboour Cllrs. The first ones have now moved on to Huntwick drive accompanied by their entourage. Keep your eye on Verner. What a lovely set of people, Not!
Week one;
1.   Group of travelers hit Jack Fultons using a young child to hide goods on.
2.   Same group attempt to rent various properties on Station lane but cannot help tradition by eyeing up many metal items that over the week have now subsequently vanished.
3.   Same group enters Priory Post Office and steel items. Most significant being the Collection box for Marie Curie Cancer Research. It appears there is low and there is Traveler low.

When entering one store again the day after and being asked to leave, one guess what the next trump card was? Yep, the racism card. “Your bloody racist against travelers”! Reply; “only regards the thieving ones”!
Don’t worry the police have made arrests and sorted it out with a “community payback agreement”. If you know what this order is you will be aware of its worthlessness. How ironic are the words “community payback agreement”, perhaps the community should.

Can you elaborate on this? I live at bottom of Drive and haven't seen anything?  Huh

Hi Kim
Assume you mean an address or description.  Cannot help further on address but sure if the same question was whispered in the Post Office more would appear as if by magic. Wink
As for description can help, A mid to elderly traveler lady is the tenant. The most distinctive recognition is one of the young females living with her. 5ft 5” shoulder length light mousey hair with traveler’s accent. Looks about early twenty’s and dresses fashionable and a bit sexy. Usually in very high heels. Not bad looking and pretty. A bit of a looker.  Tongue

Perhaps there is a more to have dig at. Rumor and gossip suggests that an outline planning application is to be handed to planning for a supermarket on the Pop Factor site. If this does come to be true in the next few weeks perhaps it would be interesting to discover how it got there.

Outline permission was applied for last year and a decision is pending but most of the reports are in now, there is a vast number of documents attached to the development of this site available to the public. It appears to be quite a large supermarket from the drawings, However lidl have recently voiced their concerns about the effect it would have on local businesses in station lane and of course their own profits also the fact that Featherstone doesn't need another supermarket as people go to the main towns of castleford and pontefract for their main shopping. One point to raise is the local councillors are in favour which should if passed bring in much needed jobs for the town. None of the big four chains have of yet signed up to the development

Maybe that's why tesco pulled the plug on redeveloping the Pontefract Supermarket.

Not a surprising planning decision but a surprising turn out especially who was there in the audience.
The planning application to build a supermarket on the Old Pop Factory site was approved this week at WMDC planning by unanimous decision including backing by local Cllrs.

The application only detailed the type of building. There was no supermarket chain named.

Present at the hearing were ASDA. If you look at the building now that could be built you would be forgiven that its cosmetic and structural design looks very much like an ASDA without the signage, only pure speculation of course.

The application was questioned by one Cllr regards any stipulations such as a petrol station facility. Obviously there are all ready 2 petrol stations already operating very nearby. The reply and final decision gave no stipulations.

Comments offered by supermarkets in Featherstone were that if trade should suddenly decrease by as little as 10% they would have to seriously consider pulling out of Featherstone.

Sadly for Featherstone the possibility of another supermarket could do more harm than good.

There should be plenty of UDP money. Will Featherstone see any of it?

Fev rumour and gossip is off again with plans for the new supermarket by Tesco to be built on the old Pop Factory site.
So that’s ASDA with a passed plan and Tesco allegedly applying for the same. The fact is the site was never sold and is still for sale. Anyone can apply to build but obviously cannot unless they own it. After reading last night’s news the corrupt financial details of Tesco accounts may be the same style of policy as the local labour party but if you are about to go bust there is no hope of development. You could assume yet another vote buster lie from the local politics.
