I remember Walt and Tony Clarkson as the hardest Featherstone rugby players for many a year. If you had Walt and Tony as centre forwards the other team never had a chance.  Bloody faces after a scrum and the odd knock out. Hard games for hard men.
Walt was just a natural hard man but not a bully. He was a nice guy. I remember seeing him on stage bending a plastic bottle crate over his head. I have never seen it since nor will ever again. Sure Walt invented the balloon dance.
