Title: Information on Wooden Bridge
Post by: claytonroyston on July 20, 2008, 09:50:36 am
i wonder if anyone has got any old photo,s of the wooden bridge that crossed the road (four lane end )at the side of the lin_pac.the bridge was for transporting tubs of muck from Snydale pit to where it was tipped and formed the muck stack. It was still operating into the mid fourties and the stack finished somewhere opposite the mill cottages.the tubs of muck was pulled along by pit ponies full ones from the pit and then taking the empty tubs back,i can remember as if it was only yesterday it was just like a carousel with the 3 or 4 ponies going round all day
