Title: "Playday" Featherstone, Wednesday 3rd August 2011 Post by: yetion1 on July 03, 2011, 08:59:04 pm Play day is a national annual event that provides free fun and entertainment for all ages just for a day. For the past 12 years “Playday” has grown nationally.
The Featherstone events association has joined forces with many local community groups to again provide "Feathesrtone Playday". There will be a free bus service running from the outer limits of the town/ ward to the venue twice in the morning to the event and twice back from the event. This has been generously donated again this year by Ross Travel. The event will be held in Puston Park on Wednesday August 3rd between 10am and 3pm. Purston Park is a large public park surrounded by trees and hosts a newly built children’s playground, B.M.X. ramp area, boating lake and lots of areas to simply sit down and enjoy the scenery and view the day. The event will provide a number of activities such as arts and crafts with supervision, inflatable’s, street dance, Zumba, wall climbing, straw bails, scalexrtic races, Mamod steam engines, giant foam pit, archery tuition, face painting, giant sand pit with bucket and spade, donkey rides, community and education stalls such as fruit carving and eating, WDH stand with arts, Youth working stand, Police van open to view, fire service display and much more fun and games. There will be food available to buy and also froffy coffee and ice cream. Featherstone and District Community Events Association The Featherstone and District Community Events Association is a voluntary community group that provides and helps with community events around ward 6 Featherstone, Street House, Sharlston and Ackton. The objective of our group is to provide free community entertainment and activity that educates and unites all ages, races or disabilities, with healthy and posative aspects of community life. The Featherstone and District Community Events Association have existed since 2003 and have gone to great lengths to improve the events each year. The association funds events each year by accessing small grants as illustrated in this application and through fund raising events such as dinner auctions and race nights. Local businesses often donate services to help fund raising events or just to help make our special days possible. The vast knowledge we have acquired has enabled the information to be passed on to other groups and thus helping the community further. Our group is open to anyone. Volunteers at any level are always welcome. You may be able to simply help set up an event early in a morning and perhaps put it all away and clear up in the afternoon. Any help is welcome. Please make contact if you can spare just an hour or two once or twice a year. We are always looking for funding and sponsors. All we can offer is to promote your help for free at our events. We often have many thousands of people attending our events.
